Google has called time on its social media service Orkut officially be shut down on 30th September 2014. It is an official announcement done through blog posts from Google engineering director Paulo golgher.
Google will focus on their most popular products like Google+, YouTube, Blogger. No new accounts can be created starting July 2014. Users can download their profile archive by Google Takeout.
What is the final word Paulo golgher said to its existing user we apologize to those still actively using the service. We are working on other social media platform with full energy & resources to make the user amazing experience every time. Google has given users a three-month period to export profile data using its Google Takeout service, but no more new Orkut profiles can be created.
