In the beginning of this month, some changes in search engine ranking were noticed and it is suspected that Google might have updated their algorithm in order to remove content of low quality. People suspected that these changes would be due to some Panda update. Google said “no” to any such update.
However, Google has denied any update but there are many websites which has reported a great fall in their website’s daily traffic. Some low quality content websites have attributed to the Google Penalty.
“No Panda Update”
After having follow-ups with the Google, they understood that there is no upgrade in Panda but Google admitted that they have made some changes in the core ranking algorithm which focusses mainly on the website’s quality. This means that the website’s with high quality content will rank better than those with low quality content.
In other words, there was not any Panda update, as it was not degrading the websites that were spamming but it was changing some factors that considered the quality of the website.
However, Google would not specify the factors that have been changed and what it takes into consideration when assessing the quality of a website. Some have reported that their websites have experienced issues like unindexed domains or pages, which made them think if the update to the core algorithm might have affected it. But, Google has not commented on this.
Some website’s visibility have been affected by the update. Not all websites are affected negatively by the new update, some websites have reported increase in the website daily traffic and ranking on SERP.
When search engine land previously asked Google about any update, they denied. Even if they have changed some factors of their core ranking algorithm, some changes have been made and it is still an update. So, now it is confirmed by the Search Engine Land that there is some update focussing on Website’s Quality and they have dubbed it as “The Quality Update”.
